Irish Modern Check Handloomed Mohair Throw | Soft Mohair Wool Blend

Irish Heritage Craftsmanship. Everyday Elegance.

Wrap yourself in the luxurious warmth of this mohair throw, masterfully woven in Foxford, County Mayo, Ireland, where textile artisans have perfected their craft for over 130 years. A soothing blend of grays, ivory, and cream creates a refined, neutral palette—bringing timeless softness and subtle dimension to your space.

Each throw begins in the design studio, where the warp plan is carefully developed and up to 2,500 individual threads are precisely wound onto the loom. As the weft yarn is woven in, the intricate pattern takes shape—combining texture and tone to create a beautifully balanced cloth. The result is a perfectly weighted throw, elevated by the naturally airy mohair fibers, which trap warmth and offer a supremely soft, cloud-like feel.

⚒️ The Weaving Technique

Creating a Foxford throw is an exacting process that blends tradition and innovation. The mohair-wool blend is first carded and spun to achieve the right balance of loft and strength. Each yarn is tensioned by hand before weaving, ensuring the warp and weft remain perfectly aligned throughout the process. Once woven, the fabric is washed in the mineral-rich waters of the River Moy—a Foxford hallmark that enhances the softness and natural sheen of the fibers.

Finally, each piece is brushed, pressed, and fringed by hand to reveal its characteristic luster and gentle drape. The care invested in these finishing stages gives every throw its signature texture and enduring quality—a tactile testament to Irish craftsmanship.
